2007-08 Detroit Pistons

Despite last season’s setbacks, the Pistons remain a team to watch out for. They do have the loss of Ben Wallace to deal with, so look for Detroit to beef up their defense, and restore cohesiveness. This should be easy to do, as they have enough talent in their roster to make up for the setbacks. They have MVP Chauncey Billups as pointguard, and Richard Hamilton is a killer scorer.  Ticket buyers can expect Detroit to watch their dependence on their starters – and to build up that inexperienced bench.

Founded in 1941 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the owner by the name of Fred Zollner was a manufacturer of piston parts for General Motors, hence the name the Detroit Pistons. The Fort Wayne Pistons, as they were called, moved to Detroit after another NBA franchise, the Detroit Gems folded after only one season. With the acquisition of Isiah Thomas from Indiana University in 1981, Bill Laimbeer and Vinnie Johnson in 1982, the Detroit Pistons began seeing greener pastures. Later acquisitions including Joe Dumars, Rick Mahorn, and Dennis Rodman primed the Detroit Pistons for championship success.
